Children’s movies based on current books

1. The very football

Without a doubt,  one of the best-selling children’s book collections (it has become out of print in bookstores) is Los futbolísimos.

This collection unites several characteristics that together have made it the collection of the moment:

  • Football.  The protagonists of these books, and as their own name indicates, are passionate about the world of football. This sport is one of the favorites of children, so this collection will already catch their attention.
  • The mistery.  One of the children’s favorite themes is mystery and intrigue, which is one of the main themes of Los fútbolísimos .
  • Starring a group of eleven-year-old children.  Children love that the characters are other children of, more or less, the same age, which will attract their attention if possible.

Last August 2018 the film based on the first of these children’s books starring children hit the big screen, and we have no doubt that the production of these films will continue due to their great success with books.

Although the protagonists of this story are the same in all the books in the collection, it is not entirely necessary to read these in the order in which they are published.

This is a positive aspect for children who do not like to read very much, as one of the titles in the collection can draw their attention above the others and start directly with that one.

2. Peter Rabbit

Although the rabbit Peter Rabbit and his adventures have been published many years ago by its well-known author Beatrix Potter, in 2018 the film based on this series of stories hit theaters.

The film is a mixture of animation and live action,   and tells the adventures of Peter Rabbit, his family and his friends, as well as the relationship they have with the humans in the story.

The Beatrix Potter stories decided to make a leap to the big screen due to the great reception among the little ones, despite the years that have passed since its publication. The importance of these stories is such that they have been published in more than 25 languages distributed, thus, all over the world.

As it is a collection of stories and in the same way that happened with  Los futbolísimos , your child can choose the title that he likes the most to read.

3. Ferdinand , another of the children’s films based on current books

Ferdinando, the bull , is a book that was published in the middle of the Spanish Civil War, in 1936, by the hand of its author, Munro Leaf. However, it is not until many years later, due to the censorship that this book received in Spain during the dictatorship, that it is illustrated by Werner Klemke.

The illustrations in this story are so wonderful that Klemke received the Biennale Golden Apple Award for them in Bratislava

In 2017, the bull Ferdinand was the protagonist of the children’s film based on the book. A story recommended for children from seven or eight years old  that will make them reflect on the world of bullfighting.

Through the pages of this book, we will meet a bull different from the others, because instead of preferring to compete with other bulls, he likes more to be able to sit and enjoy the field and the flowers that he has around him.

A film and a book that will not leave children or adults indifferent and that, unfortunately, is still current, despite the years that have passed since the publication of Munro Leaf.
