Things an overprotective mom does

1.- Try to solve all the children’s problems

When difficulties arise, overprotective mothers quickly take control. They do their best to keep their children from experiencing any discomfort.

So that children do not suffer, they do not allow them to develop tolerance for frustration and the ability to solve problems.

2.- Have frequent contact with the boys’ school

Instead of teaching children how to act in a situation, they seek intervention from third parties. When a problem arises at school, overprotective parents turn to teachers to solve it.

It does not matter if it is a trifle, they seek immediacy and keep their children in a bubble.

The interview with your child's teacher is a great time to evaluate results.

3.- Do anything to ensure that your children are successful in everything

Humans learn thousands of lessons from mistakes and frustration. However, being overprotective keeps children from engaging in an activity in which they are not the best.

Again, the intention is good, but the child is being deprived of exploring and developing new skills.

4.- Be extremely condescending when things don’t go well

It is wonderful that children know how to name their emotions and express what they feel. But they also need to learn to handle sadness, anger, and helplessness.

More than doing anything to make them feel good, you have to help them accept what is happening to them and overcome it.

5.- Control your friendships

The people with whom children live in their childhood and adolescence can greatly influence their behaviors. An overprotective mother will prevent children from getting involved with other children if they do not consider them “good.”

Contrary to this, it is the children themselves who must realize who is good for them and who is not. Learning to create healthy interpersonal relationships is another skill that people must develop on their own.

6.- Being very invasive in the world of children

Being excessively vigilant of what your children do ends up being something unhealthy. It is very good for a mother to seek the welfare of her children, but reaching the limit is harmful.

As time goes by, boys will demand privacy and begin to build their private lives. It is something normal that is part of its maturation process. However, an overprotective parent will not respect their child’s limits and right to keep things secret.

Raising an overprotected child can have downsides.

7.- Assign few tasks or responsibilities at home

Cooperation and a sense of belonging to the family are built thanks to discipline. Many children who are overprotected are not clear about the concept of reciprocity or of contributing to the functioning of society.

If this happens, little ones will feel that their own feelings, thoughts, and needs should be everyone’s priority.

8.- Disguise the realities of the world

As adults, parents know that there are injustices, evils and unpleasant situations in the world . Children also need to know about these dangers and be prepared to overcome them.

Otherwise, they will be at risk of being consumed by a fierce world for which they were not educated.

How many of these signs of an overprotective mom do you identify in yourself? Even if you want the best for your child, you need to teach him to be prepared for the difficult.

You will not always be present to assist him in everything he needs, train him in independence and resilience.
